So Don Quixote decided to pass some time in the Sierra Morena. This would show hi
s sorrow for the coldness and unkindness of the beautiful Dulcinea.

Don Quixote's Special Sadness

Sancho did not like this new idea. "Why," he asked, "do you take this trouble for nothing? Amadis and all the other foolish knights had unkind ladies. But how do you know that Dulcinea is unkind?"

"I do not know,
" answered Don Quixote, "and that is why my idea is so wonderful. Any man may go mad with sadness when he has a good reason. There is nothing wonderful about that. But to go mad without any reason
for sadness, that is really wonderful. It is the behaviour of a great knight. I shall stay here, and be sad, until you come back. You must bring an answer to the letter I shall write to that sweet
lady of Toboso. If she answers as I hope she will, all will be well."

While they were talking about this plan, they came to a wood with a small stream. There were many coloured fl
owers, and the music of running water, and of leaves moving in the wind.
