| The shepherds cried to him not to hurt the sheep. He did not listen so they p icked up stones and threw them at him. Don Quixote rushed here and there, crying, "Where are you, Alifanfaron? Come here and fight, so that I may punish you for your wrongdoings." Ju st then, a big stone struck him on the side. He thought he was killed, and quickly put the bottle of magic medicine in his mouth. Then another stone came and struck the bottle, breaking it to pieces. It hurt two of his fingers and knocked out most of his teeth. Don Quixote rolled off his horse and fell, head first, to the ground. The shepherds came running. They thought he was de ad, and quickly fetched all their sheep together. They picked up seven or eight animals that were dead, and went away quickly. Sancho Counts Don Quixote's Teeth All this time, Sancho was standing on top of the hill. He was watching his master's mad behaviour. When the shepherds had gone, he went to Don Quixote, who was badly hurt. "I told you what would happen," he said sadly.
