"You are right." answered Don Quixote "I need not punish that man any more. Y
et I shall live like that until I have won another good helmet from a knight."

"Think what you are saying, sir," cried Sancho. "Many days may pass before you meet somebody with a good helmet. What will you do? How long can you continue sleeping in your clothes, outside, every night? In this part of the country we shall only meet men driving mules. They never wear helmets, and perha
ps never hear about these things."

Don Quixote's Promises

"You are mistaken," answered Don Quixote. "Before we have gone two hours o
n the road, we shall see knights and soldiers. We shall meet knights who have fought the great rulers of China. Then I shall not only have islands to give you; I shall have whole kingdoms. You will be
greater and richer than in your wildest dreams. But look in your bags now. See if you have anything to eat. Then we will look for a castle where we may sleep tonight."

Sancho took a few small pieces of bread from the bag. "This is all I have. It is very poor food for a knight."
