山有多高啊水有多长，

通往天堂的路太难。

I'm on the train to Lhasa,

To see the magnificent Potala Palace.

To see the most beautiful kelsang flowers,

Blossoming at the foot of snow mountains.

坐上了火车去拉萨，

醉在神话天堂。

Dancing the enthusiastic snow mountain langma.

Drinking the most aromatic highland barley wine,

I seem drunk in this mythological paradise.

       伴着这首歌，火车奔向高原，每一位进藏人的心都随着这首歌而激荡。As the train was racing toward the plateau in this song, the hearts of everyone going to Tibet were throbbing with the excitement of it.

       说起进藏的路，走的最多的还是青藏线。青藏线的风光其实真不算好看，在所有进藏的线路中算是最平淡的，但路况好，所以也算是进藏的主要和常用线路啦。Speaking of the roads to Tibet, the most frequently taken is still the Qinghai-Tibet route. The landscape along the Qinghai-Tibet route is actually not beautiful, the plainest of all routes to Tibet. However the road condition is good, and that's why it's the main and most common taken route to Tibet.

        火车开动，这是第二次乘火车进出藏。两天两夜的时间，感觉非常漫长，特别是这一次，可能心境不同，所以感觉时间真的很难捱。The train ride began. This was my second trip to Tibet by train. Two days and two nights felt like an eternity, especially this time. Perhaps because I was in a different state of mind, I found it particularly difficult to pass the time.

        隔着火车的玻璃窗，拍下了沿途的风光，本以为拍出来的效果会很差，不想还可以。Separated by the train's glass window, I felt sure the pictures I took along the way wouldn't turn out good, but in fact they weren't that bad as was supposed.

       火车行驶在陕西境内，风景已与我们南方截然不同：黄土地，窑洞，时而安静时而奔腾的黄河水。The train was running along within the borders of Shannxi, whose landscape was quite different from that of our place in the south: yellow land, cave dwellings and the Yellow River with its sometimes calm and sometimes surging water.

       火车驶入藏区，地面已结冰。天很蓝，感觉很近，云在山上落下影子。火车虽然是全封闭，但透过厚厚的玻璃窗，我已闻到高原的气息。When the train entered the Tibetan area, the land surface was already covered by ice. The azure sky appeared to be so near and the clouds cast their shadows on the mountains. Though the train was totally sealed, I could still smell the scent of the plateau through the thick glass window.

      色林措，虽说在高原湖泊中排不上名号，但在青藏线上也算是一颗闪亮的明珠。湖面已冰封，真想跳下火车，去踩一踩那光洁的冰面。The Siling Co, though by no means beautiful among the plateau lakes, is still a bright pearl on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. The surface of the lake was already frozen, and I really wanted to jump off the train to step on its smooth, polished, icy surface.

       进入藏北草原，冬天的草已经枯黄，大群的牦牛奔跑在草原上，虽没有"风吹草低现牛羊"的意境，但这一种苍凉，这一份粗犷，却也是我之喜爱。Entering the grasslands of northern Tibet, we saw the withered yellow grass of winter, and large herds of yak running on the grasslands. Though there was not really the artistic scene of "The cattle and sheep are seen when the wind blows down the grass", yet I was quite fond of this type of rugged desolation.
