11月9日，国家发改委正式公布了国家法定节假日的调整方案。"五一"黄金周将被取消，放假时间由3天减少为1天，多出的2天与新增的1天分别安排至清明、端午、中秋三个传统节日。此次调整确立了清明、端午、中秋三大传统节日的法定地位。这些传统节日实际上是几千年来一直延续下来的。调整方案出台前，清明、端午等节日尽管还不是法定假日，但在民间一直过。现在将民族传统节日纳入国家法定节假日，使之以年度为载体，循环往复，让老百姓反复体味民族传统，享受民族文化，这充分体现了国家对传统文化价值和社会节假日多元价值的尊重。

On November 9, 2007, National Development and Reform Commission announced a major overhaul of its national holiday system, canceling the May Day "golden week", but adding three traditional festivals as national holidays. The May Day holiday is to be shortened from three days to one day, while the Qingming Festival, Duanwu Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival shall all become one-day national holidays. These traditional Chinese festivals have been around for thousands of years, from next year people will celebrate them as public holidays. The new legal holidayarrangement will help carry forward traditional festivals and customs. It best represents the country's respect to the traditionalculture value and the multicultural value in national holiday system.
