| With his one-year on-loan contract with English Premiership side Everton expiring in June, Li Tie, Chinese footballer of 2002, is likely to extend his foreign stint as both Leeds United and Everton look to sign him. The £1,250,000 transfer fee raised by his Liaoning club, would hit a record among Chinese players should the deal be made.
This 25-year-old player performed impressively against World Cup champions Brazil and bronze medallists Turkey during last year's FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan and consequently moved to Everton, where his 31 appearances helped this Merseyside club finish 7th last season, narrowlymissing a EUFA Cup place.
Through his hard work, Li cemented his place in the Merseysiders' starting line-up and was elected one of most popular players by Goodison Park fans. "Li Tie is a really determined lad", said Everton manager David Moyes, the newly-voted Manager of the Season in England. "He has surprised me. He's adjusting to the pace very quickly and now, he's getting stronger and has done really well."
