| The two knights rode away from each other, to be in the proper fighting position. They stopped at the same time, turned their horses and rode at full speed towards each other. Don Quixote had only ridden a third of the distance when the Knight of the Moon met him. His horse was much better an d stronger than Don Quixote's. Without touching his rider, the Knight of the Moon knocked Rozinante to the ground. Then, putting his lance at his visor, he said, "You have lost the battle, knight. If you do not agree with my conditions, you will lose your life too." Don Quixote answered in a weak voice: "Strike, and kill me. Nothing can make me say that Dulcinea is not the most beautiful woma n in the world." "That is not necessary," answered the winner, "I only want the great Don Quixote to go home to his village and stay there for a year." "If you ask me to say nothin g against Dulcinea," answered Don Quixote, "I will obey you." This was what the Knight of the Moon wanted. He bowed to the judge and left the city. Don Quixote, who was badly hurt by his fall, was carried to Don Antonio's house.
