While small, inexpensive cars are the stars of the India Auto Expo this week, luxury car makers have also parked their pricey fleets here. They are hoping to find more than a few buyers at the New Delhi event, which is expected to attract 1.8 million visitors.

Despite the growing number of millionaires in India, the luxury car market is still relatively small. Out of the 1.8 million passenger vehicles sold in India last year, only around 9,000 were high-end automobiles, said Peter Kronschnabl, president of BMW India.
