诺亚 Noah

　　《圣经．创世记》中的人物。诺亚是拉麦之子，为亚当和夏娃的第九代子孙，行为端正，蒙上帝选择在他的邪恶的同代人于洪水中灭亡后使人类能繁衍下来。诺亚遵照指示建造一艘方舟，并依神谕收容每种动物各一对。洪水退去后，上帝以一道彩虹作为不再毁灭大地的保证。他是闪、含和雅弗的父亲，整个人类种族再由诺亚三子繁衍下来。诺亚也被传说为是葡萄园耕种的创始者。

The son of Lamech and ninth in descent from Adam, he was a man of blameless piety, who was chosen by God to perpetuate the human race after his wicked contemporaries had perished in the flood. On God's instructions, Noah built an ark and took into it one male and one female of each of the world's animals. After the waters receded, God set a rainbow in the sky as a guarantee of his promise never again to curse the earth. Noah was the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, from whom the entire human race is supposed to have descended. Noah is also said to have been the originator of vineyard cultivation.
