剧情简介:



在一次严重事故的海上营救过程中，传奇的海上救生员本兰德尔失去了他一起执行营救的所有五个同事，只有他一个人侥幸活了下来。这场悲剧在兰德尔的心中印下了一个深深的烙印，强烈的内疚感使得他几乎快要放弃自己的营救职业。与此同时，由于严重的心理问题，他的家庭生活也开始渐渐变质。兰德尔的上司把这一切都看在眼里，为了帮助自己的爱将，上司把兰德尔派往海岸营救队的精英训练学校担任教练，希望通过换一个工作环境来缓解和恢复他的心情。来到训练学校只后，极富责任感的兰德尔很快将全身心投入到了教练的工作当中，他没有采用学校既定的课程设置，而是按照自己的职业经验设计了一套独特的教学方法，并且很快获得了明显的成效，并受到了学员们的热烈欢迎。就在这个时候，村里来了一个新人，杰克费斯切带着游泳比赛冠军的头衔加入了兰德尔的学生队伍。这个一心想要成为最优秀救生员的年轻人，因为自己出色的身体条件和游泳技术而骄傲自大，目中无人。然而，这样的傲气却在训练的过程中，通过兰德尔严厉管制加温情引导的方式，渐渐地销声匿迹。兰德尔教会了杰克作为一个救生员，仅仅有天分的不够的，这是一份需要用心去做，去体会的工作，需要强烈的奉献精神。在毕业前夕，杰克跟随兰德尔到了阿拉斯加的科迪亚克岛，接受北太平洋中最危险的一个区域--白令海的挑战。在杰克第一次单独执行营救任务的过程中，他从兰德尔的身上最直接地体会到了什么是英雄品质和牺牲精神。正如救生员的座右铭所说--"只要有一线希望，让其他人先活下来"......
