Internet giant Google was today named the UK's best place to work after a study found high retention rates and strong competition for jobs at the company.

The award, made by the Great Place to Work Institute research group, followed surveys of workers in 4,000 organisations around the world employing 1.5m staff, including 30,000 in the UK.

The study found that Google workers were each given a bicycle last year to help improve their fitness and regularly played table football games as a part of team bonding process.

Williams Johnson Mota, the institute's business development manager, said: "Google exemplifies what it means to be a great place to work. The company balances a dynamic culture with a commitment to business excellence.

"It has instigated policies and procedures that support all aspects of its employees' lives.

"Employees have the space to develop a unique working environment and culture, which is one reason vacancies at the organisation are consistently oversubscribed and its retention rates remain amongst the highest in the sector."

(Great Place to Work Institute)对全球4000家组织的员工进行了调查。
