There's no holding 'Gravity' down.

The Sandra Bullock-George Clooney space drama comfortably held on to the top spot at the box office for the second weekend in a row, collecting an estimated $44.3 million to bring its two-week total to $123.4 million in the U.S. and Canada. The movie from Time Warner Inc.'s (TWX) Warner Bros. slipped just 21% from its openingweekend performance.

2》(Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2)上映第三周排名第三,票房1,420万美元,累计票房达到7,800万美元。

The critically acclaimed movie fended off fresh competition for the adult audience from 'Captain Phillips,' the latest from Sony Corp.'s (SNE, 6758.TO) Sony Pictures Entertainment starring Tom Hanks as the captain of a ship hijacked by Somali pirates. It premiered in second place with a healthy $26 million, giving Mr. Hanks his first live-action hit since 'Angels and Demons' in 2009. The movie cost about $55 million to make, and an 'A' CinemaScore grade from moviegoers should help it stay afloat in the coming weeks.

Sony Pictures Animation holdover 'Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2' came in third place in its third week, grossing $14.2 million for a cumulative $78 million.

'Gravity' continued to perform well in premium and large-format screenings, with 82% of its weekend tickets sold for 3-D screenings, and about 20% in IMAX theaters. The movie has distinguished itself from other fall releases by performing well during the work week, averaging $5.8 million midweek.
