北宋的陈尧咨（Chén Yáozī）擅长射箭，觉得自己很了不起。有一天，他在表演射箭，观看的人都竖起了大拇指。只有一个卖油的老人不以为然地说："这没什么了不起的，只不过手法熟练法而已。"
During the Northern Song Dynasty, Chen Yaozi, a skilled archer, thought he was terrific. One day, while practicing archery, the people watching all gave him a thumbs-up. Only an old man who sold cooking oil said disapprovingly, "He's not that great, it's just practicedtechnique and nothing more."
陈尧咨听到了很生气，说："你有什么本事，敢小看我！"老人说："我不是小看你，只是事情做熟了，就能掌握窍门。"说着，老人拿出一枚铜钱，盖在瓶子上，然后舀出一勺油从铜钱的孔里把油倒进了瓶子口，铜钱上一滴油都没有沾上，大家都看呆了。
Chen was very angry when he heard this and said, "Are you so great that you can look down on me!" The old man said, "I don't look down on you. Only one who practices frequently could grasp such a skill." Then he took out a copper coin and put it over the mouth of the bottle. He scooped out a spoon of oil and dribbled it into the bottle through the hole in the coin. When he finished, there was not a speck of oil on the coin. Everyone was amazed.
