  语言点   Language Point

In this passage the meaning that the passenger said "我哪儿也不去 (I'm not going anywhere)" is that "他不到任何地方去 (he's not going anywhere)." "哪儿 (where)" in this sentence is a pronoun, and it refers to any place. Generally speaking "都(all)" and "也(also, else)" coming in the latter part of the sentence often correspond to "哪儿 (where)". In the former part words like "无论(regardless of)" and "不管 (no matter)" can often be used. Or two words "哪儿(where)" in the former and latter part of the sentencecorrespond to each other, denoting the conditional relationship.
For example, we can say:
①放假的时候我就喜欢呆在家里,哪儿也不想去。
During the holidays, I don't like going anywhere. I just like staying at home.
②到北京你都玩了什么地方? 唉,那几天总是在下雨,我哪儿也没玩!
When you were in Beijing, where did you travel? Oh, it was raining every day, and I didn't go anywhere!
③哪儿有困难,他就出现在哪儿。
Where there are difficulties, where he (Lei Feng) appears.
In the passage there is one more sentence "那您准备去哪儿? (Then where did you plan to go to?)" In this sentence "哪儿(where)" is an interrogative pronoun, asking about a place. In the sentences it can work as a subject or an object. It can be put after a preposition or come after verbs directly. It can describe nouns, often with "的(de)" after it.
For example:
① 哪儿有医院?
Where is the hospital?
② 您的学校在哪儿呢?
Where is your school?
③ 请问,你住在哪儿?
Excuse me, where do you live?
④ 这是哪儿的方言?
Where is this dialect from?
