Topic: When people move to another country, some of them decide to follow the customs of the new country. Others prefer to keep their own customs. Compare these two choices. Which one do you think is more preferable?

With the rapidly developing vehicles, people nowadays can get access to more and more foreign countries besides their own to travel. When settling in a new country, some people are inclined to follow local customs while others tend to keep their own. As far as I am concerned, I think we need both of the customs. The matter is how to strike a balance between them.

While we are staying in a foreign countries, the living surroundings, including the environment, neighborhood and culture, have tremendously altered. Therefore, we need to accustom ourselves to the changed environment so that we can experience a brand-new life and form a harmoniousrelationship with people around. We can display a natural appearance and manners to local people and none of them will cast a special look at us. However, another problem comes that if we complystrictly with the local customs and downright throw away our own, we may feel somewhat uncomfortable, especially when we follow some customs that are extremely disgusting to us. After all, we have been living in our motherland for such a long time, whose customs have deeply rooted in our hearts! Hence, we also need our own customs to spice our lives!

So how can we balance both? To my mind, while we are staying alone and there are no local guests around, we can do according to our own customs. But if there are some guests presently and our customs may irritate their beliefs or cultures, we need to avoid doing it and do as the Romans do! This can also help to establish a more friendly and lovely relationship!

Altogether, we cannot live without either of the customs. The best thing to avoid the dilemma of simply choosing one of them is to follow the advice I propose above.
