Topic: some high-school graduates go to travel or work for a period of time before they go to study in university. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this practice.

Nowadays some people propose that some high-school graduates go to travel or work for a period of time before they go to study in university. Actually, this practice has its advantages and disadvantages.

As with its advantages, we can raise quite a number of them. To start with, as is widely acknowledged, students in senior middle school in china have to bear enormous stress and intensity before they attend the college entrance examinations. They need to go over mountains of books and do piles of mock exams so as to ensure an exceptional performance in the finals. Therefore, after the exams, it is reasonable that high-school graduates go to do something like traveling or working to release the depression stemming from study. They can experience another life which can totallyrefresh their mind regardless of heavy study. Secondly, students can benefits tremendously from going to travel or work before entering university. Take traveling for example, in the past, students have to be interned into school or bedroom to study nonstop due to the impending exams. Seldom do they go somewhere else to enjoy a good time. After graduation, it is the high time that they went somewhere else to broaden their horizons. They can touch various people and local customs, which will undoubtedly conduce to the forming of their value of the world. In terms of working, it enables students to touch the society more deeply than before and perceive the differences between the knowledge they learn and the practical skills the work needs. Then they can have a better sense how to put what they learn into practice. Besides, it can also help them identify their own interest and their job direction in the future. With a clear goal in mind, they can learn more energetically and rapidly!

But as a saying goes, every coin has two sides. The practice also has its disadvantages inevitably. As for traveling, needless to say it is really a wonderful plan, but it may be somewhat costly, even highly expensive! Considering the large sum of tuition fees, many families cannot afford extra expense to support the trip. Hence traveling may be merely restricted to a handful of affluent students! When it comes to working, it also has its drawbacks. First of all, after a long-time tight fight with the exams, the students are already extremely exhausted, which implies that they desperately need a sound rest. If we further burden them with work, they may barely ward off the stress and weariness. It exerts a negativeimpact on their mental development.

Altogether, whether the high-school graduates should go to travel or work before they enter university should depend on their specific family conditions and their own will! We should not compel everyone to do the same thing! I firmly believe given the right to them to choose, they can surely choose the fittest way to live a fruitful life!
