大运会
2011年深圳大运会即第26届世界大学生夏季运动会于2011年8月12日开幕，2011年8月23日闭幕。本届大运会的口号为"从这里开始"（Start Here），主办城市是中国深圳。参赛国家及地区152个 ，参赛运动员7865人 ，设306项（24个大项）比赛项目。

The city called on its citizens to reduce the amount of time they spend driving during the games in order to reduce gridlock and reduce the city's carbon emissions.
"The volunteerprogram is totally voluntary, "said Huang Guoqiang, a spokesman for the games.
More than 400,000 car owners have volunteered to give up driving during the Universiade.
"It's an incredible number. We didn't expect that so many citizens would give up driving voluntarily," Huang said.
Huang said the reduced number of cars on the road will save a great amount of energy and cut a considerableamount of emissions during the Universiade.

黄国强说，在大运会期间，路面上大量减少的车辆将大规模节省能源和降低碳排放。
【讲解】
文中的"Universiade"就是"大运会"的意思，是由 university 和 Olympiad 两个词缩合而成。"Olympiad"这个词是"奥林匹克运动会"。"大运会"的另外一个表达是"World University Games"。世界大学生运动会，素有"小奥运会"之称，由"国际大学生体育联合会"（英语：International University Sports Federation；法语：Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire）主办。
