Klaus Schwab, executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, has responded to yesterday's India Real Time post which noted that his opening remarks to the audience at the WEF's India Economic Summit in Mumbai included the phrase 'whenever I open our meeting here in China.'

In an email, Mr. Schwab said: 'Participants I spoke to and I myself cannot remember that I exchanged in my comments India and China but if I would have ever done so, I would have just reflected the general attitude that every time India is mentioned people think of China.'

That might be news to all the people who, when they hear India mentioned, think of India. But it will no doubt prove amusing to people in China, where the World Economic Forum in September hosted a meeting in the coastal city of Dalian that was addressed by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.
