This week we will learn about various words and expressions to do with happiness. Some are mild, like convivial which we use when talking, for example, about a friendly and happy atmospherewhilst other express extreme joy. We will also once more look at some idiomatic expressions which can be used for the state of well being and contentedness. |

1. Father Christmas is usually depicted as a fat jolly man with a white beard.
2. Bill was overjoyed to see his friend after so long.
3. John is a very convivial host. It is always a great pleasure to go to his house.
4. He had never been so happy. He was ecstatic when he passed the examination.
5. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
