Unit 1
Step1. warmer
1.Write some words about places such as " Beijing,
Hangzhou ,Chengdu”on the board,explain to the students that teacher is going to tell them about the places the teacher have visited.
eg: I have been to Chengdu.
I have been to Chengdu.
I haven’t been to Beijing.
2.Do a lot of examples,the students take turns to say where they’ve been.
Step 2.listen and learn.
1.Write the names on the board : Lingling, Ms Smart, Amy. Now play the tape and let the students listen .Play it again ,pause it after each utterance and have the students name the speaker.
2.Get the students to open the books and read the text by themselves. Then answer the following questions.
(1)What is Ms Smart doing in picture 1?
(2)What is Ms Smart holding and doing in picture 2?
(3)What is Lingling thinking about in picture 3?
(4)What is everyone doing in picture 4 ?

Step3.Act it out.
1.Put the students into 3 groups.Assign the roles of Ms Smart ,Lingling and Amy to students in each group.Have each group read the dialogue and do any appropriate actions.
2.Now choose one group and have them perform in front of the class.Then repeat it.
Step4.answer the questions.
1.Have the students read the 4 questions ,then look back at the passage in order to to find out the answers.
2.Now have the students work individually and answer the questions ,then get them to compare their answers with a partner.

Step 1.warmer.
1.Show a map of China to the students ,and teach :
north south east west
Then teach some expressions:
in the north
in the south
in the east
in the west
eg: Beijing is in the north of China.
Kunming is in the south of China.
2.Explain wher different places are in China and point to them on the map. Then ask them to point to the map and say where is the city .
Step2.Listen and say.
1.Play the tape once and let them listen .Play it again
and have the students point to the places on the map .Play it a third time ,pause it after each utterance and have the students repeat the sentences.
2.Now have the students continue the activity in pairs. One asks the questions , the other points to the map and responds.They must take turns to ask the questions.
