| 266. The Manslayer A Man committed a murder, and was pursued by the relations of the man whom he murdered. On his reaching the river Nile he saw a Lion on its bank, and being fearfully afraid, climbed up a tree. He found a serpent in the upper branches of the tree, and again bein g greatly alarmed, he threw himself into the river, when a crocodile caught him and ate him. Thus the earth, the air, and the water, alike refused shelter to a murderer. | 266. 杀人者 有个人犯了杀人罪，被他所杀的死者的亲戚们追赶着，。 他逃到尼罗河边，看见河岸上有一只狮子于是非常害怕，便爬到一棵树上去。 他发现有一条蛇在那树上面的枝丫上，又吓得不得了，就逃到河里去。这时，一只鳄鱼将他捉住，吃掉他。 因此可知，地上、空中和水里，每一处都不可能让杀人犯有容身之处的。 |
