Brainstorm is a great activity for reviewing verbs, adjectives or nouns that can be played individually or in groups depending on the size of your class and the level of your students.
Step 1
Give your students a list of regular and irregular verbs and set them a time limit of 5 minutes to review these.
Step 2
The teacher then writes something like this on the board : "things we do with our feet".
Step 3
The students have exactly one minute to write down all the verbs related to this topic, such as: walk, kick, dance, run, jump, etc.
Step 4
After the time is up, the teacher checks the students' lists of verbs. Each verb counts for one point. Any verbs appearing in the wrong list are eliminated.
Step 5
The teacher then writes another topic on the board, "things we do with our mouth", for instance and the game is repeated.
Follow-up Activity
Once your students have completed their brainstorm lists, give each group a large piece of paper and some coloured pencils and ask them to make a poster depicting their verbs. |
